BUSINESS UNIT OVERVIEW: Rapid Labels

Rapid Labels is a label manufacturer based in Albany Auckland. Today's Rapid Labels came about from a merger in 1999 between Allmark Industries and Rapid Labels.

We produce product labels, barcode labels, promotional labels, wine labels, laser labels, pharmacy labels, logistics labels, tags, magnets - many millions of labels for any number of uses. We have an in-house prepress studio and overprinting bureau, as well as being New Zealand's leading Zebra thermal printer reseller.

Our goal is to build a thriving NZ label business delivering superb service to clients utilising a suite of best-of-breed label converting equipment.

Our charter (detailed on rapidlabels.co.nz) means that we not only set out to achieve that goal, but that we are particular about the way we go about it as well.

When your name is Rapid Labels, providing a rapid response in quoting, customer service and delivery to deadline is absolute. To assist the business live up to the promise implicit in its name, Rapid is continually re-investing in plant, gradually building a world-class label converting business.

Rapid enjoys a preeminent position in the wine label market, representing some 130 New Zealand producers.

Capabilities and Technology

The merger of Allmark and Rapid created what is probably New Zealand's most diverse label manufacturing press fleet. Our print & finishing facility utilises around 30 specialised pieces of equipment for a huge range of labels.

Allmark was strong in thermal labels and Rapid was an acknowledged leader in short-run colour jobbing. Since the merger BSPG has invested in Gallus presses which means Rapid now play in the wine and FMCG colour markets as well.

Rapid has an in-house prepress studio, letterpress & flexo in-house digital plate making, flexo, letterpress and screen printing capabilites, and an overprinting bureau.

We represent Zebra Technologies in New Zealand - selling printers and parts for Zebra thermal printers nationwide. Rapid is a ZASP accredited service provider which also sells thermal transfer ribbons for Zebra printers.

People

We employ 72 staff, managed with a flat structure comprising Anne-Marie Sutton (Operations & Finance) and Greg Howell (Sales, Marketing & General Management).

The Rapid sales team has specialists in wine labels, prime labels, industrial labels, and barcode solutions. There are satellite Account Managers in Hamilton, Wellington and Christchurch. We service Sydney out of Auckland.
