BUSINESS UNIT OVERVIEW: CraftsmanXpress

CraftsmanXpress was born out of the need to have a business focused on the short run, fast turn around demands of our customers. Using a mix of current generation digital production devices and offset printing technologies we aim to provide a fast, cost effective solution to our customers across a broad range of products.

The Xpress team is a real strength - their attention is to meet the deadline and they will work through the night to achieve the sometimes "impossible".

The mix of digital and conventional production resources enables us to produce an incredibly diverse range of products from a quantity of one to many thousands. We can mix and match digital with offset and finishing options are many.

Under Craftsman's umbrella we can access a depth of talent and other production resources that enables us to tackle some demanding projects - demanding in the size, complexity or turn around time.

As a part of the Blue Star Print Group we can access a regional network of people and technology that is unrivalled inn Australasia.

Capabilities and Technology

Significant equipment

Xpress operate a fully digital front-end to their productions tools, offset or digital.

Imaging and printing is completed on one or a combination of the following:

  • 2 Xerox 6135's
  • Xerox 6060 colour machines
  • 4 x A3 one and 2 colour presses
  • 1 x A2 2 colour perfecting press.

Finishing includes; 2 guillotines, 3 automatic collator / stitchers, stapling, glueing, drilling, laminating, coil, comb and wiro-binding, etc

Range of services

Variable data, variable imaging products. Bar coding, ticketing, manuals, brochures, catalogues, programmes, samples, pre-production copies, booklets, forms, stationery, programmes, exams papers, etc, etc

Relocation and new technology

In June 2006 Xpress will relocate along with Craftsman Press to a purpose built 8,200 square metre facility in Clayton, Melbourne. This state of the art, climate controlled facility will be complimented by a multi-million dollar investment in new press technologies, finishing equipment and a number of important environmental initiatives.
